Hugh Masekela said: “My biggest obsession is to show Africans and the world who the people of Africa really are.”
He lived his dream. His found his trumpet. He blew his horn in a way only he could. He inspires us all to find our own trumpet and join the symphony of progress.
Was it the song “Grazing in the Grass” that launched his success? Was it the inspirational song: “Send me”, where he pleaded to be a vessel for change to heal the ills of the world?
His success was in his passion and sincerity.
We salute his struggle for change, his achievements.
We salute his talent.
But most importantly we salute the legacy he has left which continues to inspire us.
